Creating Image Files for Fabric to Import into EQ6
QuiltingCoach Penny
One of the really nice things about EQ6 is that you can import your fabric to create the design of your quilt. It is easy to do, but you do need a scanner and some photo cropping software. I use Photoshop which may be more than you need, but it what I have. The first thing I do is scan the fabric and save it to a file. You could scan each fabric individually, but in this case, I scanned all of the fabric at once as you see in the photo above. Then in Photoshop, I opened a new file, used the Marquee tool to highlight an area in one of the fabrics and then moved that area into the new image file. Once there, you need to flatten the layers so you can create a Bitmap (bmp) file - which is the file type that is needed for EQ6. In this video, I created the new image file as a 100pxl by 100pxl file. I have discovered that EQ6 will automatically size the file. By making the file size larger, you will get a smoother image in your fabric as you place it in your patches in EQ6. Live and Learn! It probably says that somewhere in the documentation. In the video below, you will see exactly how to create the image files to import into EQ6.
Happy Quilting!
