Video: Stay Sane with Crazy Quilts Webinar Replay
QuiltingCoach Penny

Many quilters look at crazy quilts with wonder and amazement. What makes them so special and what, actually, is the process for creating one of these treasures?

Crazy quilts are similar to traditional patchwork quilts in that they are created from scraps of fabric. The big difference is that crazy quilts include several different types of fabric.

They could include velvet, upholstery fabric, silk, corduroy, wool, brocade, satin ribbons, and most anything else. Additionally, to mask the seamlines, quilters embellish crazy quilts with elaborate embroidery stitches, lace, buttons, beads or other embellishments.

Another difference is that crazy quilts are sewn onto a foundation piece of fabric and then the blocks are sewn together much like a Quilt as You Go project.

The biggest challenge of creating a crazy quilt (once you get past the notion of using heavy fabrics in your block) is in sewing the odd-shaped pieces to the foundation and ensuring that all of the raw edges are covered.

It's easy to get stuck in a corner of the block and not see a way to add the next piece or two, keeping the raw edges covered while not adding giant pieces.

There are ways around this problem. And, we covered that in our Stay Sane with Crazy Quilts Webinar.

Plus we talked about how to add fancy embellishments, including elaborate embroidery stitches, lace, beads, and more.

As you can imagine, this Stay Sane with Crazy Quilts Webinar covered many topics including:

  • how to choose the fabric for your crazy quilt - even though you will use different types of fabric, there are some you will want to stay away from. You'll discover which ones during the webinar.
  • sewing the pieces onto the foundation - because the pieces are odd-shaped, and you can modify the shape as you like, what looks like a trouble-free process does have some pitfalls. You'll have "ways out of the corner" by the end of this webinar.
  • embellishing your blocks - this is another thing that sets crazy quilts apart from other quilts, the beautiful embroidery stitches, ribbons, lace, buttons and other things you add to cover the seams between each fabric. You'll have several embroidery stitches to add to your quilting toolbox by the end of the webinar.
  • layering the blocks - this, actually, is very easy, but if you've never done or seen the process before, it can be confusing. You'll do this without even thinking once you see the process.
  • finishing the quilt - there are several different choices for finishing your crazy quilt and getting it ready to display or use. You'll have several options to choose from by the end of this webinar.
  • ideas for creating a personal family history crazy quilt - choose a favorite photograph and add fabric from clothing, curtains, or other items to build a memory block. You'll get some great ideas about how to create one of these quilts that will display your family history for generations.

This was one of our more amazing webinars, lasting more than 2 1/2 hours, and jam-packed with information and answers to questions posed by attendees.

If you missed any part of this live event, you missed a lot. But not to worry, because you can get your hands on a copy of the replay PLUS additional goodies that will enable you to create one of these treasures!

You Can Have This Incredible Information
in Your Timeframe - not Ours!

As much as quilters in South Africa love us, it really is about 2 in the morning, and they have discovered that they can get the same information by having a video recording of the webinar (including the questions from quilters attending), and it can be yours with just the click of your mouse.

Just think - whether you attend the event or not, you can pop the video disc into your computer and listen to the entire presentation. Or pick and choose the parts that you are interested in.

Listen once or a bazillion times!

It took weeks for me to gather the best and most complete information about making crazy quilts, and it was all presented during the Stay Sane with Crazy Quilts Webinar. That's why it lasted more thant 2 1/2 hours!

In short, you'll get everything you need to know about how to create a crazy quilt all on one convenient disc!

With your copy of this video replay, you'll be able to listen as many times as you need to - whether it is next week or next year.

Also included is a copy of the full size presentation slides - not just the 3 slides on a page free Handout. Nope, this is one slide per page, and includes my exact presentation, which will include slides not in the free Handout. That way you can see in even more detail exactly what was shown on the screen and follow along exactly with the video.

And as a special bonus, this video disc will include:

  • videos showing the how-tos for embroidery stitches to embellish your crazy quilt - information which will NOT be included in the webinar, since you can't show video during the webinar

  • video showing how to finish a quilt by folding the backing over to the front of the quilt - even more information which will NOT be included in the webinar, since you can't show video during the webinar

  • tips for creating your crazy quilt - as I was preparing for the webinar, I realized that I hadn't created a "summary page" showing all of the critical tips for success in creating your crazy quilt. That's when I decided to create a Tips for Crazy Quilts report and include it in the information you get when you invest in the video replay

The Stay Sane with Crazy Quilts Webinar will include discussions of these topics, but presenting video during the live webinar is very difficult, these step-by-step videos will not be included in the presentation.

These videos and Tips report will be included with the Stay Sane with Crazy Quilts Webinar Replay.

coolcheck Yes! Please send me the DVD recording of the live webinar: Stay Sane with Crazy Quilts Webinar video replay and the full size slides of the presentation and Bonus Videos and Tips for a tiny $39 plus shipping and handling.

I understand that this is an unedited recording of the live webinar, and I will get all of the information presented as well as the questions and answers after the presentation.

This will also include the videos showing how to finish my crazy quilt and how to stitch many of the common embroidery stitches so I can embellish my crazy quilt without pulling my hair out trying to figure out how to create the stitches and the Tips for Crazy Quilts report!
