| Medallion Quilt Contest | The White Fabrics in the Medallion Q . . .

The White Fabrics in the Medallion Quilt

Printer-Friendly Format

There are four different white fabrics in the medallion quilt.

Each one coordinates with its "partner" strip in the triangle. In the picture below, notice that there are only 2 different fabrics. In two of the triangles, the tips are pink and the bottoms are the pink floral fabric.

In the other two triangles, the reverse is true - the tips are pink and the bottoms are the pink floral.

The strips were cut 2 inches wide and then isosceles triangles were made from them. The triangles were cut so that the seam runs through the center, as you might cut the top off a pyramid by cutting through the middle. The result is that some of the triangles have a white strip on the top, and others have the white strip on the bottom.

All of the fabrics in the quilt are 100% cotton.

White Fabric with Green Stars

White with Green Stars

This is white fabric with tiny green stars. The stars are about 1/8 inch from point to point. And they are approximately 1/2 inch apart.

You can see that they are not evenly spread out, and not in any noticeable pattern. This fabric is matched with the green feather fabric as well as the pink floral.

White and Pink Floral

This fabric is a little creamier than the white with stars. These look like a little group of flowers with some leaves. The flowers are shades of pink, with a light blue star-shaped flower thrown in there, too.

The leaves and stems are green, and these bunches of flowers are very close together. The largest space is probably about 1/4 inch. This fabric is paired up with the dark green solid and the green and purple fabric.

White with Blue Boxes

White with Blue Boxes

This white background has blue figures imprinted. There are box-shaped dots - 9 in each square. And there are outlines of boxes with 2 shapes - one inside the box and the other outside the box.

These shapes look like they could be tiny, but fat, arrowheads, or they could be diamonds. The pattern appears to be random, and the shapes are in different orientations - not at all lined up. This fabric is paired with the blue fabrics.

Lavender and White Floral

This is also a creamy off-white background with tiny flowers. The flowers are lavender with green stems and leaves, and there are sets of 4 green dots that are shaped to look like a square or a diamond, depending on how you look at them.

The design is random in that the flowers are not lined up, and are facing in different directions around the fabric. This fabric is matched with the purple fabrics.
